Agave Americanum: Agave, Century plant.

This rather large Agave is growing in one of the church yards in Etla, Oaxaca. Every one seems to be into graffiti these days, and as you can see by the top image (88b) there is a cactus spike poked into the leaf for others to write their own graffiti. I wonder if the plant like that?!
