Butterfly

Botanical Glossary - Home

This is one of the all-white butterflies that inhabit our Pacific Northwest area - about the same size and coloring as the Veined White butterfly, except that the Veined White has pronounced ridge colors on the wing underside and delicate white above wings. These butterflies are usually flying from April to August in two or three broods. The black spots on the wings indicate the sex of the butterfly: 1 on male, 2 on female.

Artogeia Rapae - Cabbage White on Trifolium Repens (Red Clover) blossom - at Portside Park Vancouver - Summer.
