Winter in the Okanagan
Brandt Creek Estuary:

Rotary Marshes - On the waterfront of Okanagan Lake - Kelowna BC - December 16, 2009.
Melting snow means warmer days ahead. About 6 inches of snow starting to make a mushy mess. Rotary Creek Marsh - Brandt's Creek Estuary Restoration Project - To purify the water's of Brandt's Creek prior to entering Okanagan Lake. To act as storm water management. To Provide wildlife habitat. To educate generations and create a unique recreation experience.
Long before the Rotary Creek Park there was a CPR Dock and ship building berth: As a result of the agricultural success in the Okanagan area, modes of transportation for taking fruit and vegetables became a necessity. It was the CPR Railway Wharves, where the fruit was loaded onto steamers and barges and moved down the lake to connect with the train en route to many final destinations such as the UK, The Coast and the Prairies.
The original Wharf was built on this site in the mid 1930s
and was used until 1972. There were over 20 landings and docks around the
Okanagan Lake that were all closed as road access improved.
