Chehalis River Canyon - From the upper eastern rim looking south

Deep in the heart of Sasquatch country - beautiful blue-green river with fresh water cold and clear enough to drink out of. Located North of Harrison River near Morris Valley Road (Travel east on Lougheed Highway 7 from Vancouver about 2 hours drive. Take the first paved road east of Harrison Mills settlement, if you get to the bridge over Harrison River of highway number 7, you have gone too far)

We parked in the day picnic area beside Chehalis River bridge (an old wooden, single lane structure) then made our way along an old native fishing trail north along the eastern canyon lip about one or two kilometers up river - We bumped into an aboriginal who was out for a run along the trail (He likes to keep in shape running along the trail to aid his canoe paddling) that told us the trail continues along the river canyon until it crosses an old logging road. One thing to be sure along this trail: it is easy to loose sight of the main trail as there are so many spur trails that meander to and from the river and who knows where. The trail isn't marked, but if you keep your head and remember that the river is always to the west - always keep within ear shot of the river and you will be okay.
