Kelowna City Park

A walk in the Park: A group of people are walking through the freshly fallen snow in Kelowna City Park - January 12, 2011.

Today:Snow ending near noon then cloudy with 60 percent chance of flurries or wet flurries. Amount 5 cm. High plus 2.
Tonight:Cloudy with 40 percent chance of showers. Snow level 1100 meters. Temperature steady near plus 3

Kelowna RCMP and the Central Okanagan Traffic Services are very pleased to find that Kelowna motorists have adapted their driving behaviors very well to the major snowfall that has blanketed the area overnight.

Police have noted that most motorists have slowed down, left more room between vehicles and have been vigilant at approaching intersections.

The net effect, so far, has been very few collision complaints coming in to police dispatch.

Police commend these actions and hope they continue during the snowfall period and beyond, as warmer weather is expected and the resulting slushy conditions can bring driving problems of their own that the motoring public needs to consider.
