Pinus Ponderosa: Ponderosa Pine.

The aboriginal people in British Columbia's interior used the Ponderosa pine for many things. They used seeds and inner bark for food, while the main meat of the tree could be used for dug out canoes, or wood for fire fuel. The pitch was used for waterproofing moccasins and canoes. Pine Pitch was also mixed with bear grease and used for an ointment for sores and eyes. Modern day carpenters and builders use the yellowish wood for cabinets windows, doors, and other furniture, panels and shelves.
