Westham Island
Westham Island Herb Farm (Westham Island Road at Kirkland Road, about 5 kilometers southwest of Ladner - Westham Island is situated in the mouth of Fraser River between Richmond and Tsawwassen) Photographed on October 27, 2007.
Seasonal vegetable for Halloween Season. A popular family outing takes place every year before Halloween at the pumpkin patches on Westham Island. Children and adults get a big kick out of grabbing a wheel barrel and loading up with the huge orange squash.
Pumpkins take up a lot of space, but gardeners can plant one or two clumps, or hills, in their own yard for fall decoration and pies. The Jack O'Lantern pumpkins can grow from 3 feet across to the 'Big Max' variety which will measure some 20 inches across and weight over 100 pounds.
