Ribes Sanguineum: Flowering Currant
These blossom and bark photos were made in Mid-March, 2003 in Vancouver.
A 5 foot deciduous shrub with long showy pink flower clusters in January - March. Native to canyons, and coast ranges, liking shade to part shade, moderate water in interior, very drought tolerant in coastal gardens. The fruit from this plant is edible.
