Dragonflies
This is a common member of lowland coastal ponds and lakes and easily recognized
by the scarlet abdomen, bright red face, rusty-brown legs, and clear wings
with red veins cocked downward. These beauties usually fly from mid-spring
to midsummer. They are not powerful flyers, so they will keep returning
to a favorite branch to rest.
