The European Skipper is one of our smaller species, measuring under one inch in length The coloring on the wings above is rusty orange with narrow dark border and darkened veins, the front wings below are clear orange, the hind wing is variable: greenish-rust, greenish-gray, to greenish-brown. The European Skipper was introduced to North America before the first world war and has naturalized and spread.
