Celestial Art - Canada - Vancouver BC

Window of Opportunity: Looking east from Callister Park. The Clouds cleared away after 7:45 PM, just after the Earth's shadow blocked the sun's bright light reflected upon the Moon's surface. I stood for the better part of an hour and a half part of which folks hurried to the Pacific Coliseum to watch the Vancouver Giants play the Edmonton Oil Kings. Except for one or two who came over to see what I was up to, everyone seemed to be oblivious to what was happening above the horizon to the east.
While the moon is bathed in the earth's shadow the world
seems slow moving and dark almost as if a moon-less night. But once the
moon started to pass out of the earth's shadow, the heavens brightened with
the full brunt of the moon cutting through the night like a searchlight
from a slow moving helicopter. Then the clouds roll in again and the spectacle
is over until 2010.
