Birds

American Robin - shows no fear perched on an Alder tree branch above the Burnaby Heights Trail. Proud of his bright red Salmonberry, perhaps showing it off and strutting his plumage.
American Robins are migratory, flocking to Southern USA for winter feeding grounds, although some will linger all-year round in the Pacific Northwest because finding food is not that difficult in our mild winter climate. Robins eat insects, earthworms and berries. The adult male has a bright, brick red breast, black head with white around the eye and has a yellow beak female similar, but duller color.
Turdus Migratorius - American Robin, male - Burnaby Heights Trail, Burnaby BC - June 06, 2006.
